Education Act

Policy 713

The Government of New Brunswick undertook a review of the province’s Policy 713, within the Education Act.

Policy 713, introduced in August 2020, set minimum standards for New Brunswick schools to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for 2SLGBTQ+ students. Proposed changes to Policy 713 have been a hotly debated topic in New Brunswick and across Canada. Internationally, we note that media organizations from around the globe have also taken notice of the current debate.

The Office of the Child and Youth Advocate has been actively engaged on this file. You’ll find the information you’re looking for below.
